Framing Instructions

Nothing beats custom framing, but if you're looking for an economical option for standard-sized frames I highly recommend Opposite Wall’s natural oak frames. To best protect your print from sun damage, I recommend replacing the plexi with UV plexi or glass.

I’m also a fan of Well Made Co. oak magnetic hangers. I tested a lot of magnetic hanging options and they were by far the best quality. Magnetic hangers are great for large or odd-sized prints.

Creative Process

Sketch
Every piece of art begins as a sketch, exploring different layouts and styles. These days I do most of my sketches on an iPad in Procreate.
Final Art
The final vector artwork is drafted point by point in Adobe Illustrator. I love getting lost in the details and spending hours perfecting curves.
Risograph!
Color separations are made, masters are burned, and the final artwork is printed one color at a time on my SF5130 Risograph duplicator.

What are Risographs?

Risograph printing utilizes a specialized machine called a duplicator, which works a bit like screen printing. Risos are known for creating "perfectly imperfect" prints with beautiful textures and vivid colors.

Riso prints are printed one color at a time. Artists create color separations and select a different color drum for each layer of color. The risograph burns the design into a paper mask/screen which is then wrapped around the drum before printing.

Ink is pushed through the screen and transferred onto paper as it’s pulled through the machine. Once one color layer is printed on every print in the edition, the whole process is repeated for each additional color layer.

Risographs create stunning overlays, luscious textures, and interesting “quirks” like ever-so-slightly-off registration. The end result is a beautiful print that is delightfully “analog.”
