Framing Instructions

Nothing beats custom framing, but if you're looking for an economical option for standard-sized frames I highly recommend Opposite Wall’s natural oak frames. To best protect your print from sun damage, I recommend replacing the plexi with UV plexi or glass.

I’m also a fan of Well Made Co. oak magnetic hangers. I tested a lot of magnetic hanging options and they were by far the best quality. Magnetic hangers are great for large or odd-sized prints.

Creative Process

Sketch
Every piece of art begins as a sketch, exploring different layouts and styles. These days I do most of my sketches on an iPad in Procreate.
Final Art
The final vector artwork is drafted point by point in Adobe Illustrator. I love getting lost in the details and spending hours perfecting curves.
Print!
The final artwork is printed on my Epson 3880 wide format inkjet printer which translates the art beatifully onto heavyweight Moab fine art paper.

What is Giclée?

Giclée is a fancy way of saying inkjet printing using archival inks and fine art paper. Giclée printing produces beautiful vivid prints and is great for complex colorful art and photography.

Because inkjet printers are widely available, you might think that giclée printing would be a more economical form of printing. You would be incorrect! Fine art inkjet printing is actually quite expensive because of slow print speeds and proprietary ink costs. It’s a great option for small editions or low-volume printing.

My Epson 3880 wide format printer creates beautiful prints up to 17" x 22" using 9 distinct ink colors. I primarily use Moab Entrada Fine Art paper, which has just the right amount of cottony texture and is luxuriously thick.

All of my giclée prints are printed in house on my Epson 3880 wide format printer. When I can’t print something myself because the format is too large, I work with local printers like Berkeley Giclée to make the magic happen.
